Rear Motor Flow Test
Rear Drum Vibratory Lines
(1) Low-amplitude pressure hose. (2) High-amplitude pressure hose. (3) Rear cross-over relief valve. (4) Leading to vibratory motor.1. Raise the entire machine on blocks so both drums can rotate without moving the machine.2. Disconnect low-amplitude pressure hose (1) from cross-over relief valve (3).3. Connect the inlet of a flow meter to relief valve (3). Connect the outlet of the flow meter to hose (1).4. Open the manual load valve (on flow meter) fully.5. Start engine and run at full throttle.6. Move the rear drum vibratory control switch to the LOW AMPLITUDE position.7. Move the propel lever forward just enough so the front and rear drums rotate slowly.8. Move the vibratory on/off switch (on propel lever) to ON. The rear drum should begin vibrating.9. Observe the flow meter. Record the reading in the following table.10. Move the propel lever back to the center/stop position. Move the vibratory control switch and the on/off switch to the OFF position.11. Shut the engine off.12. Remove the flow meter. Reconnect the hose to relief valve (3).13. Disconnect high-amplitude pressure hose (2) from relief valve (3).14. Connect the flow meter to relief valve (3) and hose (2).15. Repeat steps 4 through 12, with the rear drum vibratory control switch set in the HIGH AMPLITUDE position. Record the flow reading in the following table.Rear Drum Motor Flow 16. Oil flow in HIGH and LOW amplitude should be about 117 liters/min (31 U.S. gpm). If measured flow is too low, perform Pump Efficiency Test in this module. If pump output is OK, check the following: a. Check relief valve cartridges in the cross-over relief valve. Adjust or replace cartridges if stuck open or damaged.b. Check the relief valve in the rear vibratory control valve. Adjust or replace if necessary.c. Check the vibratory motor for damage.d. Check bearings and the eccentric weight shaft inside the rear drum. Repair or replace damaged parts.
