Snap ring groove (A)
Deburr both edges of the snap ring groove (A) with emery cloth before installing new seals. Refer to Illustration 2.

Make sure that the seals are installed in the proper direction.
Install the inner lip seal (B). Orient the spring away from the drive shaft bearing. To prevent damage to the lip seal, press only the outer edge during assembly (E) .
Install the snap ring (C) .
Install the outer lip seal (D). Orient the spring away from the snap ring. Refer to illustration 2. To prevent damage to the lip seal, press only the outer edge during assembly (E) .
Lubricate the seals immediately prior to installing the shaft into the pump housing. Use oil that is used in the transmission oil system in order to lubricate the seals before assembling the shaft through the bearing in the housing.
Lubricate the pump after the pump is assembled. If a bench test will not be performed and the pump will be put into storage, perform the following steps.
Fill the pump with oil that is used in the transmission system.
Apply an adequate amount of oil to the outside lip seal.
Drain the oil from the pump and seal the ports.
Lubricate the seals immediately prior to installation on the machine. Before installing a pump on a machine, apply an adequate amount of hydraulic oil to the outside lip seal.
