Open the left rear access door. While you support the access door, remove bolts (1) and the washers in order to disconnect the bracket from the counterweight. Close the left rear access door.

Open the right rear access door. While you support the access door, remove bolts (2) and the washers in order to disconnect the bracket from the counterweight. Close the right rear access door.
Open the engine hood. Lock the engine hood in the OPEN position.

Remove caps (3) .

Install Tooling (A) on counterweight (4). Fasten a hoist and lifting straps to Tooling (A). The weight of the counterweight is 3210 kg (7077 lb).

Remove bolts (5) and the washers that secure the counterweight to the frame.
Remove the counterweight.

Note: Shims may be located between the upper frame and the counterweight.
Mark the location of shims (6) and record the thickness of shims (6) .Installation Procedure

Note: Make sure that the mating surfaces of the upper frame and counterweight are clean and free of dirt.Note: Shims are used to adjust the space between the counterweight and the covers.
If shims were installed between the upper frame and the counterweight, install shims (6) in the original positions.

Install Tooling (A) on counterweight (4). Fasten a hoist and lifting straps to Tooling (A). The weight of the counterweight is 3210 kg (7077 lb).
Position counterweight (4) on the machine.

Apply 4C-5590 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of bolts (5) .
Install the washers and bolts (5) that secure the counterweight to the frame.
Remove Tooling (A) from the counterweight.

Install caps (3). Tighten the caps to a torque of 12 4 N m (8.9 3.0 lb ft).
Close the engine hood.

Open the right rear access door. While you support the access door, install the washers and bolts (2) in the bracket. Close the right rear access door.

Open the left rear access door. While you support the access door, install the washers and bolts (1) in the bracket. Close the left rear access door.
