Unexpected machine movement can cause injury or death.In order to avoid possible machine movement, move the hydraulic lockout control to the LOCKED position and attach a Special Instruction, SEHS7332, "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the hydraulic lockout control.
Personal injury or death can occur from a counterweight falling during removal or installation.Do not allow personnel under or around the counterweight during removal or installation.Make sure that the lifting device is in good condition and is capable of handling the weight of the counterweight.

Use two people to install support blocks (5). Place the support blocks in a vertical position. The weight of each support block is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

Start the machine. Back up the machine against counterweight (6). Align both support blocks with the grooves in the counterweight. The weight of counterweight (6) is approximately 11,612 kg (25,600 lb).

Position chain assemblies (9) and install bolts (10). Install nut (8). Tighten nut (8) to a torque of 15 3 N m (11 2 lb ft). Install cotter pins (7) .
Start the engine. Adjust the engine speed to one-third of full throttle engine speed.

(3) Stop valves (A) CLOSED position (B) OPEN position
Move switch (1) upward to the ON position.
Place stop valves (3) in OPEN Position (B) .

In order to raise the counterweight, move control lever (2) upward. Refer to Illustration 12. Raise the counterweight until access to support blocks (5) can be gained. Rotate each support block (5) to the horizontal position, as shown.
Move control lever (2) downward. Refer to Illustration 12. Lower the counterweight onto the support blocks.

Note: In order to align the counterweight, it may be necessary to move the counterweight up and down.
Install bolts (4) that hold the counterweight to the frame of the machine. First, tighten the bolts by hand until the washers make contact with the counterweight. Move control lever (2) downward in order to allow the counterweight to settle on the support blocks. Use Tooling (A) to tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 2700 300 N m (2000 220 lb ft).
Place stop valves (3) in CLOSED Position (A). Refer to Illustration 13.
Move switch (1) downward to the OFF position. Refer to Illustration 12.

Close the right rear access door.
