(35) Turbocharger outlet temperature sensor Type K thermocouples are used as exhaust gas temperature sensors for the engine. These exhaust gas temperature sensors provide information to the exhaust temperature scanner. The exhaust temperature scanner uses this information to monitor engine operation.The exhaust temperature scanner monitors all of the signals from the exhaust temperature sensors. If a problem is detected, the exhaust temperature scanner can enable alarms and shutoffs. The exhaust temperature scanner broadcasts the temperature readings of the exhaust gas temperature sensors over the CAN data link for use by other modules. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, KENR5473, "Exhaust Temperature Module" for additional information that is related to the temperature scanner.
