Certain machines have reported failures of 5F-0585 Bearing Cone. Failures have occurred on both the inboard (A) and outboard (B) of the input gear.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of the problem, but an interim repair has not yet been defined.In the event of failure, replace 5F-0585 Bearing Cone with same part.Note: Ensure Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9352, "Final Drive Oil Check/Level" is followed. Machine should be on flat ground and the final drive oil level mark will need to be horizontal/parallel to the flat ground. Validate refill capacity from OMM before filling.Follow the instruction below if you have experienced failure of bearing cone.
Downloaded from Electronic Technician (ET), create a Product Status Report (PSR).
Submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket quoting CPI number 377895. Attach the PSR, and photos of the failed 5F-0585 Bearing Cone to the DSN.
Request that the Tier 1 representative, transfer your ticket to an available Tier 2 representative for Caterpillar Lower Power Train. The Tier 2 representative will request the machine serial number and machine operating hours.
Submit a Service Information Management System (SIMS) report. Attach the PSR, and photos of the failed 5F-0585 Bearing Cone to the SIMS report.
