(1) Rust and Corrosion may form in these areas. (2) Remove the mounting bolts.Inspect the surrounding areas between the burner tube and the frame. If rust or corrosion are present use the following procedure to ensure a ground connection.
Remove the bolts that connect the burner tube with the frame.
Remove the burner tube from the frame.
Clean all mounting surfaces between the burner tube and the frame.
Reinstall the burner tube to the frame.Note: The connection between the glow plug and the burner assembly must be free of corrosion and free of lubricant. Corrosion and Lubricant will obstruct the ground connection.Note: Before you install the glow plugs, you must clean the threads that are located in the burner tube. The following taps correspond to the thread size of the glow plugs: M14 X 1.25 thread size for the 141-9273 Glow Plug and M18 X 1.5 thread size for the 8T-8013 Glow Plug .Rework Procedure

(3) First Retaining Nut (4) Glow Plug
Before you install the glow plug in the burner tube, install the first retaining nut to the terminal. Torque the retaining nut to 1.13 N m (10 pound inch).Note: The threaded terminal must not turn while you torque the retaining nut. Damage to the glow plug will occur if the terminal turns.
Insert the glow plug into the burner tube. Torque the glow plug to 27 N m (20 lb ft).

(5) Power Wire (6) Second Retaining Nut
Connect the power wire to the terminal.
Install the second retaining nut to the terminal. Torque the second retaining nut to 1.13 N m (10 pound inch).
Test the glow plug for proper operation. Do not hold the glow plug in the on position for more than 10 seconds. This special instruction is available through the normal literature distribution system. This publication can also be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).
