Note: Reposition the auxiliary water pump on suitable cribbing. Ensure that the shaft assembly is supported. Carefully inspect the surface of the seal assembly. If the surface is cracked or scratched, discard the seal assembly and obtain a new seal assembly for installation. Ensure that the faces of the seal assembly are clean.
Lubricate the stationary segment of seal assembly (21) with a solution of water and five percent soap. Use hand pressure to install the stationary segment of seal assembly (21) into the pump body. After the seal is installed, wipe the surface dry. Lubricate the rotating segment of seal assembly (21) with a solution of water and five percent soap. Use hand pressure to install the rotating segment of seal assembly (21) over the shaft assembly.

Ensure that the shaft assembly is supported. Use Tooling (C) , Tooling (L) , and a suitable press to install impeller (20) .

Note: Ensure that body (18) is seated on the pump body.
Install O-ring seal (19) on body (18) . Install body (18) and bolts (17) . Do not tighten bolts (17) at this time. Shims may need to be added later.

Install port plate (16) in the body. Ensure that the lug on port plate (16) fits into the slot in the body. Install O-ring seal (15) , ring (14) , and impeller (13) .
Install lock rings (12) . Ensure that the male halves of lock rings (12) and female halves of lock rings (12) are installed in the orientation that was noted during removal.

Install the O-ring seal and thrust washer (11) . Apply Tooling (N) to the threads of bolt (10) . Use Tooling (B) to hold the end of the drive shaft. Tighten bolt (10) to a torque of 123 8 N m (90 6 lb ft).

Determine the thickness of the shims for the body. The shims will be used in order to obtain a Clearance (X) of 0.20 to 0.30 mm (0.008 to 0.012 inch) between the top face of the impeller and the top face of the ring.The ring should be raised slightly above the face of the impeller.Place a straight edge on the face of the ring across the impeller. Use a feeler gauge to measure the Dimension between the face of the impeller and the bottom of the straight edge.Note: If necessary, remove the bolts and use the forcing holes to raise the body in order to install the shims.
After Clearance (X) is correct, tighten bolts (17) from Step 14 to a torque of 22 4 N m (195 35 lb in).

Install O-ring seal (8) on cover (7) . Install cover (7) and bolts (6) . Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 5 1 N m (44 9 lb in).Assemble the Check Valve
