Some 793D Off-Highway Truck operators have experienced nuisance low engine oil level alarms during left-hand turns or transient conditions. The alarms occur when the oil level sensor is uncovered for an extended period as shown in Illustration 1.Nuisance low oil alarms can be eliminated by regularly maintaining engine oil levels safely between the "ADD" and "FULL" markings on the dipstick per the Operating and Maintenance Manual. Use the procedure below to check and maintain the proper engine oil level.
The machine must be on a level surface and the parking brake must be engaged.
Check the oil level in the engine.

When the engine is running at low idle, maintain the oil level between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks. These marks are on the low idle side of the dipstick as shown in Illustration 2.

When the engine is stopped, maintain the oil level between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks. These marks are on the engine stopped side of the dipstick.
If necessary, remove the oil filler cap and add oil.

(1) 330-9321 Liquid Level Sensor Gp (2) 172-8660 Liquid Level Switch Retrofitting to liquid level switch (2) is not recommended. Liquid level sensor group (1) (capacitive sensor) is more robust and reliable than the liquid level switch (mechanical switch).
