Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect the connection for the water inlet. Cap the openings.
Remove elbow (1) from water pump (2).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to water pump (2). The weight of water pump (2) is approximately 55 kg (120 lb).
Remove two bolts (3). Install Tooling (B) and remove remaining bolts (3). Remove water pump (2).
Remove the O-ring seal from the joint between the water pump and the front housing. Discard the O-ring seal.
