BAR AS 2608704 - Caterpillar

Start By:
Remove the torque converter, parking brake release, and brake cooling gear pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Torque Converter, Parking Brake Release and Brake Cooling) - Remove".
Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component. This action will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

Position gear pump (1) onto a suitable work bench. Remove locknut (3) and the washer that holds gear (2) to the shaft.

Attach Tooling (A) onto gear (2) , as shown. Use Tooling (A) to remove gear (2) from the shaft (not shown). Remove gear (2) and woodruff key (4) (not shown) from the shaft (not shown).

Remove two bolts (6) and the hard washers. Remove four bolts (8) and the hard washers in order to remove pump cover (7) and the O-ring seal from pump body (5) .

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove bearings (9) from pump cover (7) .

Remove gear (13) from gear assembly (11) .
Remove gear (13) from gear assembly (10) . Remove woodruff key (12) (not shown) from gear assembly (10) .

Remove pump body (5) and the O-ring seal from pump body (15) .
Remove four dowels (14) from pump body (5) .

Remove pump cover (17) and the O-ring seal from pump body (16) .

Remove pump body (16) and the O-ring seal from pump body (15) .
Remove four dowels (14) from pump body (16) .
Remove gear (18) from gear assembly (11) .
Remove gear (18) from gear assembly (10) . Remove woodruff key (12) (not shown) from gear assembly (10) .

Remove gear assembly (10) and gear assembly (11) from pump body (15) .

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove sleeve bearings (19) from pump body (15) .
Remove six bolt dampers (20) from pump body (15) .

Note: Pump body (21) was removed in the removal procedure.
Remove four bolts (25) and the washers that hold cover (30) to pump body (21) . Remove cover (30) from pump body (21) .
Remove O-ring seal (23) and face seal (28) from cover (30) . Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove bearings (29) from cover (30) .
Remove gears (24) and (27) from pump body (21) . Remove two dowels (22) from pump body (21) .
Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove bearings (26) from pump body (21) .
