A change to the supplier of the core plug 218-2317 Plug . There is a difference of tolerance of the core plug and the tolerance in the threaded drain hole in the cylinder block. This causes a small leak path through the sealing joint. Core plug (1) is the plug that needs to be replaced. Core plug (2) is the replacement core plug.This is a one hour job. Please submit warranty claims pay class 38.Solution
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.

Remove core plug (3) from the block (4). Ensure that all the coolant is drained from the block.
Clean the threaded area in block (4). Use Tooling 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant in order to apply a bead around the thread of new core plug (2). Install the core plug to the block.
Tighten the core plug to a torque of 30 N m (22 lb ft).
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.Note: Do not fill the cooling system faster than 5 L (1.3 US gal) per minute in order to avoid air locks. Note: Air locks in the cooling system may result in engine damage.
Mark the core plug with a white circle or a dot. This will identify the resealed core plug.
