Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the water pump.
Remove the accessory drive.
Remove the engine speed sensor.
Remove the crankshaft front seal.
Remove the front engine support.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (2), bolts (3), cover (1), and the gasket.

Remove bolts (6), retainer (7), and adapter (8).
Remove bolts (4) and bolts (9) that hold front housing (5) in position on the engine. Remove front housing (5) and the gasket from the engine.
