Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide"for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Start the engine. Lower the screed onto a flat, level surface. Null the screed to the flat surface. Stop the engine.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) .

Disconnect harness assembly (2). Remove the cable strap.

Remove the bolts, the washers, and screed walkways (3) .

Remove the bolts and cover (4) .

Remove the bolts and clamp (5) .
Remove the nut and ground wire (6) .
Disconnect harness assemblies (7) .

Remove bolts (8), the nuts, the washers, and plate (9) from the tow arm.
Repeat Step 9 on the other tow arm.
Start the engine and move the machine away from the screed. Stop the engine.Installation Procedure
Start the engine and back up to the screed. Stop the engine.

Install bolts (8), plate (9), the washers, and the nuts to the tow arm.
Repeat Step 2 on the other tow arm.

Connect harness assemblies (7) .
Install ground wire (6) and the nut.
Install clamp (5) and the bolts.

Install cover (4) and the bolts.

Install screed walkways (3), the washers, and the bolts.

Connect harness assembly (2). Install the cable strap.
