Information:
(1) Install shims as required to provide end float in the bearing assemblies of ... 0.05-0.16 mm (0.002-0.006in.)Bearing Adjustment
The output transfer drive bearings are adjusted with shims located between the casing and bearing housings. The adjustment procedure is the same for each bearing assembly so only the idler gear bearing adjustment is described.1. Lie the casing flat and install bearing housing (8) without any shims or O-ring seal. Use two bolts equally spaced (without washers).2. Turn the gear by hand while tightening the bolts slowly and evenly until all end float in the bearing assembly is taken up. When all end float is taken up the effort required to turn the gear will start to increase. This should correspond to a torque of approximately 1.5 N m (13lb.in.) on the two bolts.3. Observe the bearing rollers as the gear is being turned. The rollers should all be turning on their own axes. If the rollers are skidding end float is still present in the assembly.4. Measure the clearance between the housing (8) and the casing (6) at two positions, directly opposite each other. Average these two measurements.5. Remove the housing (8) and make up a shim pack whose thickness equals the average measured clearance plus 0.10mm (0.004in.)6. Install the housing with shims and O-ring seal. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.7. Turn the gear by hand while observing the bearing rollers. The rollers should be skidding if end float is present in the assembly. If the gearbox is standing vertically (as illustrated) the rollers at the top of the bearing should be clearly seen to be skidding. If the gearbox is standing horizontally skidding of the rollers will be more general but should still be quite easily detected. If skidding is not clearly visible it is likely that insufficient end float is present.(4) When assembling input boss (2) to gear (3) or gear (7) to gear (10) use 2U2856 retaining compound between the mating faces.(5) Torque for bolts ... 255-285 N m (190-210lb.ft.) Install with 2U2855 threadlock.Wirelock after assembly.(9) Torque for bolts ... 255-285 N m (190-210lb.ft.) Install with 2U2855 threadlock.Wirelock after assembly.
