Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Lower the temperature of the bearing.
Use Tooling (E) in order to install bearings (14). Position the bearings 9.5 .8 mm (0.37 0.03 inch) below the outside surfaces of the stick.
Use Tooling (E) in order to install outer lip seals (13).

Lower the temperature of the bearings.
Use Tooling (E) in order to install bearings (11) and (12). Position the bearings 9.5 0.8 mm (0.37 0.03 inch) below the outside surfaces of the stick.
Use Tooling (E) in order to install outer lip seals (10).
Apply Tooling (F) onto the bearing bores and the lip seals.

Attach a suitable lifting device to stick (1) .
Position stick (1) .
Position shims (10) and pin (9). Tighten bolt (8) .

Install bolt (8). Tighten to a torque of 325 40 N m (240 30 lb ft).
Lower the stick (1) to the ground.

Attach a suitable lifting device to stick cylinder (4) .
Connect hose assembly (6) .
Install pin assembly (5) .

Connect hose assemblies (3) .
Fill the hydraulic system with oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper procedure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the proper type and the proper amount of oil.
Raise fore boom (2) and stick (1) in order to remove Tooling (B) .End By:
Install the bucket linkage. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket Linkage - Install".
Install the bucket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket - Install".
