17.5% per sec     35%    System Response:The warning lamp will flash while the "Derate" is active.The ET will display "Engine Derate" in the first engine status box on any ET screen.The ECM will generate a EID 039 event code on the Cat Data Link. The event code will be displayed on a diagnostic screen of the Electronic Technician (ET).The ECM will generate a SPN 100-FMI 18 event code on the J1939 Data Link. The event code may be displayed on a receiving device for the J1939 data link.The ECM will generate a 46 flash code that will be displayed on the diagnostic lamp.
There may be a problem with the engine lubrication system.Test Step 1. Check for Diagnostic Codes.
Connect ET to the service tool connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. The engine should be off.
Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged diagnostic codes.Expected Result:There should be no diagnostic codes that are present.Results:
OK - Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - Repair: Repair the diagnostic codes that are present. Refer to the appropriate topic in the "Troubleshooting With a Diagnostic Code" section of this manual.Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 2. Perform a Check of the Engine Lubrication System.
