3208 (99R, 2Z, 51Z) Truck EnginesDescription of Change: The new engine oil cooler and filter base assembly and new engine oil cooler and filter base have stronger mounting flange areas to help prevent cracks.Adaptable To: The new 108-3879 Oil Cooler And Filter Base Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 9N-3587 Oil Cooler And Filter Base Assembly (this is the longer of the two basic oil cooler groups). The former oil cooler and filter base assembly is canceled. The new oil cooler and filter base assembly also requires a rear mounting bracket and the associated hardware that fastens the rear of the cooler and filter base to the engine oil pan flange. See the illustration. The new engine oil cooler and filter base assembly is in effect with 3208 Truck Engines 99R1532 and 51Z82088.
Identification of components. Two 9M-1974 Washers (1). Two 4B-3388 Bolts (2). One 9N-3338 Bracket (3). One 5M-2894 Washer (4). One 1A-2029 Bolt (5).The new 108-3882 Oil Cooler And Filter Base Group is a direct replacement for the former 7W-1764 Oil Cooler And Filter Base Group (this is the longer of the two basic oil cooler groups). The former oil cooler and filter base group is canceled. The new engine oil cooler and filter base group is in effect with 3208 Truck Engine 2Z66710.
The new engine oil cooler and filter base assembly, and the new engine oil cooler and filter base group do not include the oil cooler core, gaskets, seals, or filters. When replacing a former base assembly or group with a new one, reuse or replace the other components from the former base. Always used new gaskets and seals. Consult the Parts Manual for your engine to determine the correct parts to order.
