BASE-VALVE MECHANISM COVER 2887035 - Caterpillar

Place a 3J-1907 O-Ring Seal on 6V-3965 Nipple Assembly (3). The nipple assembly and the seal are part of the 8T-5320 Hydraulic Test Group. Attach the nipple assembly to 8T-5114 Adapter (2). Attach 8T-5115 Hose (1) to the adapter.
The pressure tap that is used to measure the oil pressure in the circuit for the tilt cylinders is located on the harvester head. The pressure tap is located on a hydraulic oil line for signal pressure. The location of the pressure tap is shown in Illustration 2.

Remove the valve cover from the harvester head. Remove the dust cap from pressure tap (AA). Attach a 0 to 25000 kPa (0 to 3600 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (AA) or the adapter.Note: Ensure that the wire harness is connected to the valve section for the tilt cylinders.

Start the engine. Press operating mode switch (6) in order to activate the working mode. Turn engine speed dial (4) until the engine is operating at 1300 RPM. Press the boom activation switch in order to activate the implement hydraulic system and the computer aided bucking system (CABS).Note: The cab door must be closed in order to activate boom activation switch (5) .

Harvester Head in the HORIZONTAL Position
Raise the harvester head approximately 0.3 m (1.0 ft).

Location of Keypad for Harvester Head (7) Tilt UP key. (8) Tilt DOWN key.
Press and hold key (8) for the Tilt DOWN function. The harvester head will tilt down. The pressure will be indicated on the pressure gauge.
Release key (8) .
Deactivate the implement system by pressing boom activation switch (5) .
Place operating mode switch (6) in the NEUTRAL position.
Stop the engine.

Turn adjustment screw (9) in the counterclockwise direction in order to decrease the pressure. Repeat Steps 9 and 14 until the pressure gauge reads 3450 kPa (500 psi).

Fully lower the machine. The location of the purge fitting for the load sense line must be the highest point on the boom. Lower the harvester head to the ground. Place operating mode switch (6) in the NEUTRAL position. Place boom switch (5) in the OFF position.

Remove cap (10). Install a 8T-5115 Hose Assembly to fitting (11) .
Start the engine.
Press operating mode switch (6) in order to activate the working mode.
Place boom activation switch (5) in the ON position.
Press and hold down the "Tilt Down" function.
Allow the air and oil to flow through the hose until only oil exits.
Place boom activation switch (5) in the OFF position.
Place operating mode switch (6) in the NEUTRAL position.
Remove the hose. Tighten cap (9) on fitting (10) .
Stop the engine.
Open the hood that is located behind the cab.

Slowly loosen coupling (12) from port "X" on the implement pump until oil or air begins to flow from the coupling.
Allow the air and oil to flow through the coupling until only oil exits. Tighten the coupling.
Adjust the "Tilt Down" function back to normal operating pressure. Refer to Table
