1. Measure the DEF Pump Resistance at the connector:
A. For -3 Code Measure:
- From Terminal D to A
- From Terminal E to A
- From Terminal L to A
B. For -4 Code Measure:
- From Terminal D to K
- From Terminal E to K
- From Terminal L to K
Approximately 1.5 kilo ohms or higher
Result: Resistance is not within specification.
Repair: Replace the DEF Pump.
Result: Resistance is within specification. Go to next step.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Measure the resistance between the metal case of the DEF pump unit and the DEF pump connector:
A. For -3 Code Measure:
- From Terminal D to DCU Pin 10
- From Terminal E to DCU Pin 10
- From Terminal L to DCU Pin 10
B. For -4 Code Measure:
- From Terminal D to Metal Case
- From Terminal E to Metal Case
- From Terminal L to Metal Case
Approximately 1.5 kilo ohms or higher
Result: Resistance is not within specification.
Repair: Replace the DEF Pump
Result: Resistance is within specification
Proceed to Test Step 3.
3. Reconnect the DEF Pump connector
A. Unplug the DCU connector and measure resistance at the DCU connector:
- From Terminal 2 to 41
- From Terminal 21 to 41
- From Terminal 32 to 41
Approximately 1.5 kilo ohms or higher
Result: Resistance is not within specification.
Repair: Replace the harness.
Result: Harness resistance is within specification, then recommend contact the DSN before replace the DCU.
Refer to procedure to flash DCU
