3406, 3408 and 3412 Engines in All ApplicationsDescription of Change: An improved shaft in the drive shaft assembly and a new bushing are used in the fuel transfer pump on all the above engines. The new shaft is made of steel with chromium plate. This gives a harder surface for more resistance to wear and possible fuel leakage. The former shaft can be damaged too easily in the area where the seal makes contact with the shaft. The new bushing is made of solid bronze for improved lubrication and longer service life. The replacement bushing for parts service was already made of bronze.Adaptable As: The new shaft assemblies are direct replacements for the former shaft assemblies. The part numbers did not change. The parts service bushing for the new and former bushing did not change.
