Default screenThe screen in Illustration 2 is the default for Messenger.The "Performance" menu allows the operator or the technician to view pages of information. These pages of information monitor the data that is important to the machine during operation. This information can only be viewed. The "Performance" menu uses the screen to show the real-time information of the machine.The "Performance" menu option is selected by navigating through the main menu. Also, you can press the left/up button and the right/down button at the same time until the "Performance" menu is shown on the screen."DPF Level" and "REGEN Status"
The level of the diesel particulate filter is displayed by using a bargraph on the left side of the split screen. The first mark represents the filter at 40 percent. The second mark represents the filter at 80 percent. The last mark represents the filter at 100 percent. The status of the regen will appear to the right side of the split screen. The regen has one of the four following statuses:
Locked
Manual
Auto
DisabledThe status can be programmed to "Auto" or "Manual" in the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). The programmed status is the default at the beginning of each cycle of the key. The default status is "Auto" after the ECM has been flashed.

Status of "Locked"The Locked status will be displayed if the soot level is collected to a point that a regen is no longer safe. A certain time period is allowed for a regen to be allowed through the Cat ET. If a regen is not performed in this amount of time, performing a regen may not be safe and the ability to regen is inhibited. If the soot level becomes too high and a regen is locked, the diesel particulate filter (DPF) should be replaced.

Status of "Manual"The "Manual" setting will be the default setting at the beginning of each cycle of the keyswitch if the setting of "Manual" was programmed by using Cat ET. Press the regen switch in this setting in order to start a regen.

Status of "Auto"The "Auto" setting will be the default setting at the beginning of each cycle of the keyswitch if the setting of "Auto" was programmed by using Cat ET. Press the regen switch in this setting in order to force a regen. The machine automatically initiates a regen under specific conditions listed in the OMM and engine manual.

A popup screen appears if the regen is "Disabled". Press the switch that disables the regen for 3 seconds in order to disable the regen. The switch is located in the cab. Press the regen enable switch in order to return to the enabled status."Measured Slope""Target Slope"
The measured slope is displayed in percentage on the left side of the screen. The target slope is displayed in percentage on the right side of the screen."Engine Speed" and "Ground Speed"
