Remove & Install Timing Drive Group
1. Remove two bolts and washers (2).2. Remove plate (1) and the gasket. 3. Remove bolt and washer (3). 4. Remove four bolts and washers (4).5. Remove cover plate (5). 6. Disconnect tube (6).7. Remove one bolt and washer (7).8. Remove timing disc (8). 9. Remove six nuts and washers (9).10. Remove housing (10) and the gasket. 11. Remove shaft (11) from housing (10). 12. Remove seal (12).13. Remove one bushing (13) from each side of housing (10). The following steps are for the assembly of the timing drive group. 14. Install one bushing (13) on each side of housing (10). Lubricate the sealing lip of seal (12) with clean engine oil prior to installation.15. Install seal (12) with Tool (A) until the seal makes contact with the bottom of the bore. 16. Install shaft (11) in housing (10). 17. Put the gasket and housing (10) in position on the timing gear cover. Install six nuts and washers (9). 18. Connect tube (6). Apply 4C-4030 Loctiteto the threads of bolt (7) prior to installation.19. Put timing disc (8) in position and install bolt and washer (7). Hand tighten bolt (7) just enough so timing disc (8) can still be turned by hand. Pin the flywheel while number 1 cylinder is at top center (TC) prior to aligning timing disc (8). 20. Align the index hole (marked (X) on timing disc (8), 77.3 degreescounterclockwise from the sensor installation hole as shown in illustration D60546.21. After timing disc (8) has been aligned properly, tighten bolt (7) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft). 22. Install cover (5).23. Install four bolts and washers (4). 24. Install bolt and washer (3). 25. Install the gasket and plate (1).26. Install two bolts and washers (2).
