Install two 3/8 inch - 16 NC eyebolts, lifting chains, and a hoist onto carrier assembly (23). Install carrier assembly (23) to housing assembly (14). Remove the tooling. The carrier assembly weighs approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Install retaining ring (21) to shaft (22).

Install ten springs (17) and five dowels (18) to housing assembly (14). Install three friction discs (19) and two clutch plates (20) to housing assembly (14) in alternating order. Start with a friction disc and end with a friction disc.

Install a seal ring (16) on piston (15) and on clutch housing (12). Install piston (15) in clutch housing (12).

Use tooling (C) to hold the piston in clutch housing (12). Install two 1/2 inch - 13 NC eyebolts, lifting chains, and a hoist on clutch housing (12). Install clutch housing (12) to housing assembly (14). The clutch housing weighs approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Remove the tooling.

Install ring gear (13) to clutch housing (12).

Install sixteen bolts (4) and the washers to clutch housing (5).

Install the transmission assembly to transmission housing (3). Align the shafts of the assemblies. Check that the proper seating of the assemblies is achieved. Install eighteen bolts (2) and the washers that secure the transmission assembly to transmission housing (3).

Use tooling (F) to test the clutch pistons in the clutch housings. Use 690 to 1035 kPa (100 to 150 psi) air pressure to move the clutch pistons. Apply air pressure to each of the seven oil passages. The clutch pistons should move a distance of 3.0 to 6.4 mm (.12 to .25 inch).

Install two 1/2 inch - 13 NC eyebolts, lifting chains, and a hoist onto transmission assembly (1). Lift transmission assembly (1) from Tooling (G). The transmission assembly weighs approximately 703 kg (1550 lb).End By:
