BOOM NOSE
1. Grind or gouge to remove all the weld in "Y" area, four location. See Illustration 1.2. Grind both areas carefully to make a vee groove to allow better access of the welding gun to the weld root.3. Carefully clean all of the affected areas to avoid spatters, paint, grease, etc.4. If there was a crack, make a spot check to be sure the crack has disappeared.5. Weld, as shown in Illustration 1, using small passes. Use basic cored weld wire:15.00 OK TUBROD ESADE70T5 AWS A5.201.2 mm diameter
6. After welding, heat the affected areas to 200 degrees C. Cool at a very slow rate by covering the welded area with an insulation blanket.7. Grind all areas carefully to avoid overlap and undercuts.8. Grind the transverse area flush and smooth to avoid stress risers (from top plate to bottom plate) and to get a smooth radius with the weld in "X" areas on both sides. See Illustration 1.9. Paint the repaired areas.BOOM FOOT
