Preparation
Prior to disassembly, make the following preparations.1. Workbench The workbench must have solid structure and enough space to hold parts during work.2. Supplies Prepare the supplies, maintenance material, and special tools shown in the previous section.General Precautions
1. Do this disassembly wok in a clean and dust-free place. Put a rubber sheet or cloth on the workbench to protect parts from scratches.2. Use care in handling precision parts during work to avoid damage caused by striking other parts or from being dropped. Use special care in handling the contact surfaces of seals such as an O-ring, oil seal, etc., to avoid scratches.3. Never strike or prize parts forcibly when they are held fast, to prevent damage, burring, oil leakage or deteriorated performance. Use care and patience.4. Protect parts from corrosion and dust when disassembly is interrupted for some time. Parts rust easily due to moisture or dust when left disassembled.Disassembly Procedures
1. Clean the carrier roller with kerosene.2. Remove tapered plug (14) from cover (8).3. Drain engine oil from the carrier roller. 4. Loosen bolt (6), and remove bolt (6), spring washer (7) and cover (8) from roller (4).5. Remove O-ring (9) from cover (8). 6. Set shaft (1) in a vise, loosen bolts (15), and remove bolts (15), spring washers (16) and thrust washers (10) from shaft (1).7. Pull roller (4) out of shaft (1). 8. Remove floating seal (11) from roller (4) using a spatula.9. Pull out seal support (3) from shaft (1).10. Loosen set screw (17), and pull out seal support (3) from shaft (1). (EL300) 11. Remove floating seal (11) from seal support (3) using a spatula. Do not reuse floating seal (11). 12. Remove O-ring (12) from shaft (1), and remove snap ring (13) from shaft (1).13. Remove O-ring (12) from seal support. (E300) Do not reuse O-ring (12). 14. Pull out spring pin (2) from seal support (3) using a puller. (Except EL300) If spring pin (2) and seal support (3) are engaging correctly, there is no need to pull out spring pin (2). Do not reuse spring pin (2).15. Pull bushing (5) out of roller (4). Do not reuse bushing (5).Cleaning of parts
Cleaning parts in oil with dirt attached will cause scratches easily. Soak them in a rough cleaning vessel containing kerosene until dirt and grease become loose and float.1. Place parts in a rough cleaning vessel containing kerosene and clean both inside and outside thoroughly while slowly rotating.2. Wipe off kerosene from parts with a clean rag. Dry the inside of roller (4) using compressed air in a place free from dust and moisture. After drying parts, apply a coat of engine oil to them.
