Information:

START BY:a) remove front wheels 1. Remove plug (3). Remove the oil from the wheel spindle housing.2. Remove bolts (2). Remove cover (1) from the wheel spindle housing. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. Remove the bolts and the retainer from the wheel spindle. Some models will have a shim behind the retainer. 3. Loosen bolt (5). Install tooling (A) under the bolt. Tighten bolt (5).4. Fasten a hoist to the wheel spindle.5. Tighten tooling (A) against the wheel spindle. Hit the wheel spindle with a hammer until it is free. Remove wheel spindle (4) with tooling (A). Weight is 150 lb. (68 kg). Remove tooling (A).6. Remove the inner bearing cone from the wheel spindle housing. 7. Remove Duo-Cone seal (6) from the wheel spindle housing. Remove the Duo-Cone seal from the wheel spindle. Keep the Duo-Cone seals with their respective wheel spindle and housing to prevent mixing at installation.8. Remove two bearing cups (7) from the wheel spindle housing with a hammer and a punch if a replacement is necessary. 9. Remove outer bearing cone (8) from the wheel spindle with tooling (B).Install Wheel Spindles
1. Lower the temperature of the two bearing cups. Install the bearing cups in the wheel spindle housing. Heat the bearing cone to a temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing cone on the wheel spindle. 2. Make sure the Duo-Cone seals for the wheel spindle are clean and dry. Make sure all metal surfaces that seals make contact with are clean and dry. Install the Duo-Cone seals in the wheel spindle housing and on the wheel spindle with tool (A). Put a small amount of oil on the metal surfaces of the seals that make contact with each other. 3. Fasten a hoist to the wheel spindle. Put wheel spindle (1) in position in wheel spindle housing (2).4. Heat the inner bearing cone to a temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing cone on the wheel spindle. 5. Put retainer (3) in position on the wheel spindle. Do not install any shims between the retainer and the wheel spindle. Install bolts (4) that hold the retainer in position. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 95 5 lb.ft. (129 7 N m).6. Install tooling (B) on the wheel spindle. Check the bearing preload. Correct bearing preload is when 175 lb.in. (20 N m) is needed to keep the wheel spindle in rotation when assembled. If the bearing preload is not correct, add a maximum of one shim to get the correct bearing preload. Remove tooling (B). 7. Install a new O-ring seal on the cover. Put cover (5) in position on the wheel spindle housing. Install bolts (8) that hold it.8. Tighten bolt (6) to a torque of 515 20 lb.ft. (698 27 N m).9. Install plug (7). Fill the wheel spindle housing with oil to its correct level.END BY:a) install front wheels
