Couplers (1) that are located on the left side of the implement control valve are pressurized when the implement control lever is in the EXTEND position. Couplers (2) that are located on the right side of the implement control valve are pressurized when the implement control lever is in the RETRACT position. Dust caps limit the amount of dirt that enters the couplers.The couplers will accept SAE standard connectors or ISO standard connectors. The standard connectors should be 1/2 inch.Connecting Implement Hoses to the Quick Couplers
Use the following procedure in order to connect implement hoses to the quick couplers.Note: Male couplers are available from any Caterpillar dealer. A 9X-2017 Coupler is available for 3/4 inch hose. A 9X-2018 Coupler is available for 1/2 inch hose.
Open the dust cap on the coupler.
Always wipe the inside the coupler and the outside of the connector tip clean with a clean, lint-free cloth prior to completing the connection. Failure to do so will reduce the life of the quick coupler and contaminate the oil in the implement circuit.
Wipe the inside of the coupler and the outside of the tip on the implement hose. Make sure that both surfaces are clean.
Firmly, push the hose into the coupler.
Make sure that the hose is fully seated. Verify that the hose is in the correct coupler.Note: If you suspect that the return line is under pressure, cycle the implement control lever in order to relieve the pressure.Disconnecting the Implement Hoses from the Quick Coupler
Use the following procedure in order to disconnect the implement hoses from the quick coupler.
In order to relieve the pressure in the implement hose, move the implement control lever to the FLOAT position. When you disconnect hoses from the #1 valve and from the #2 valve, the engine must be running when you move the implement control lever to the FLOAT position. Stop the engine.
In order to remove the hoses, grasp each hose near the coupler. Then, firmly pull out the implement hose.Connecting Implement Hoses to the Quick Couplers (Lever Coupler)
