Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen hose clamp (1) and hose clamp (7) for hose assembly (5). Remove clip (6).
Disconnect hose assembly (5) from breather heater (8) and crankcase breather canister (9).
Loosen hose clamp (2) and loosen hose clamp (4) for hose assembly (3).
Disconnected hose assembly (3) from crankcase breather canister (9) and engine body.
Open hose clip (10) and move hose clip down on hose assembly (11). Open hose clip (12) and move hose clip up onto hose assembly (11).
Remove hose assembly (11) from crankcase breather canister (9) and remove hose assembly from cylinder block.
Remove bolts (14) from crankcase breather canister (9).
Remove crankcase breather canister (9) from bracket (13).
If necessary, disassemble the crankcase breather canister. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Crankcase Breather (Canister) - Replace" for the correct procedure.

Follow Step 10.a through Step 10.c in order to disassemble valve mechanism cover (18).
Remove valve mechanism cover (18). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove screws (17) and carefully remove baffle plate. (16).
If necessary, remove adaptor (15) from valve mechanism cover (18). Breather Heater Remove
If necessary, remove the breather heater.

Remove electrical connection (not shown). Loosen hose clamp (1) on hose (5). Note: Hose (5) can be disconnected from connector (6).
Loosen hose clamp (3) and remove heater assembly from air connection (4). Remove hose clamp (3) from air connector (4). Remove hose clamp (1) from hose (5). Installation Procedure

Make sure that the components of the breather assembly are installed correctly. Engine damage may occur if the breather assembly is not working properly.

Clean all parts and inspect all parts. Replace any parts that are worn or damaged. Ensure that the cavity for the breather in valve mechanism cover (18) is clean and free from restriction.
If necessary, follow Step 2.a through Step 2.d in order to assemble valve mechanism cover (18).
Position baffle plate (16) into valve mechanism cover (18).
Apply Tooling (B) to screws (17). Install screws (17) to baffle plate (16). Tighten the screws to a torque of 1.5 N m (13 lb in).
If necessary, install adaptor (15) to valve mechanism cover (18). Tighten the adaptor to a torque of 20 N m (177 lb in).
Install valve mechanism cover (18). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
