Excavators And Loaders Equipped With Buckets With Flush Mount, Bottom Strap And Two-Strap Tip AdaptersReference: Special Instruction, Form SEHS8811, "Procedure For Welding Flush Mount, Bottom Strap And Two-Strap Adapters To Base Cutting Edges".Failures of base cutting edges have occurred on excavator and loader buckets equipped with flush mount, bottom strap and two-strap weld-on adapters. This problem has been attributed to poor weld penetration and incorrect welding procedures used during adapter installation.
To prevent possible cracking of the base cutting edge, the correct welding procedure for installation of the adapters must be used. The Special Instruction gives complete weld preparation, preheat and welding procedures for the above mentioned adapters.
