Start By:a. connection of steering frame lock linkb. remove front tire and rim assemblies Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Support frame with Tooling (A). Support lift arms with Tooling (B). Support axle housing with hoist and strap.2. Disconnect brake line (1). Disconnect drive shaft (2). Remove bolts (3) and remove axle housing. Weight of the front axle housing is approximately 1134 kg (2500 lb). Make sure the bearing caps do not fall off of the spiders when the drive shaft is disconnected. The needle bearings in the caps can be lost. Install in the reverse order.3. Be sure the mounting surfaces on the front axle housing group and the front loader frame are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installation of the front axle housing group.
