Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Support center drive shaft (3) with a suitable lifting device.
Remove bolts (1) that hold center drive shaft (3) to yoke assemblies (2) and (4) .
Use two people to carefully remove center drive shaft (3). The weight of center drive shaft (3) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).Installation Procedure
When the center drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint group, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use two people to carefully install center drive shaft (3). The weight of center drive shaft (3) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

Install bolts (1) that hold center drive shaft (3) to yoke assemblies (2) and (4). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 150 15 N m (110 11 lb ft). Refer to Illustration 3 for the correct tightening sequence.
Remove the lifting device from center drive shaft (3) .
Lubricate the center drive shaft. For the correct procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.End By: Separate the steering frame lock.
