Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Place the gasket for the flywheel housing into position on the cylinder block.
Install Tooling (B) into the cylinder block.
Install Tooling (A) onto the flywheel housing. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A).
Lift the flywheel housing into position on Tooling (B).

Install the bolts that secure the flywheel housing to the cylinder block. For the correct positions of the bolts, see Illustration 1 and Table 2. Tighten the bolts evenly.

1/2 F 1D-4590 120.7 4.75 Tighten plugs (1) to a torque of 70 15 N m (50 11 lb ft).Tighten the 1/2 - 13 NC bolts to a torque of 105 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).Tighten the 5/8 - 11 NC bolts to a torque of 215 40 N m (160 30 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (B) and install the remaining bolts.
Install the camshaft drive gears.
Install the bolts and the plates for the camshafts.
Install the covers for the camshafts. End By:
Install the crankshaft rear seal and the wear sleeve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal and Wear Sleeve".
Install the speed/timing sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Speed/Timing Sensor".
Install the oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Install".
Install the exhaust elbow and the bracket for the exhaust elbow. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Elbow - Remove and Install".
Install the starting motors. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Starting Motor - Install".
Install the barring group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Barring Group - Remove and Install".
