Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Lift the ripper assembly with proper rated chains and a suitable lifting device. The ripper assembly weighs approximately 452 kg (997 lb). Place Tooling (A) under the ripper assembly in order to support the ripper assembly. Remove the chains.

Support the ripper lift cylinder and install pin (6). Install bolts (5) .

Install pin (4) and bolts (3) .
Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for the other ripper lift cylinder.

Remove all plugs and all fittings and connect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (1) .
Repeat Step 5 for the hose assemblies on the other ripper lift cylinder.

Lift the ripper assembly with proper rated chains and an appropriate lifting device. Remove Tooling (A). Lower the ripper assembly to the ground and remove the chains.
Fill the hydraulic system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7479, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7479, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".
