Measure the outside diameter of the crankshaft journal with an external micrometer.

Measure the inside diameter of the crankshaft bearing with an internal micrometer.

Calculate the oil clearance.
If the oil clearance is more than the allowable limit, replace the crankshaft bearing 1.

The crankshaft journal must be fine-finished to higher than Rmax = 0.8S

Put a strip of Plastigage on the center of the journal.
Install the bearing case and tighten the bearing case screws 1 to the specified torque, and remove the bearing case again. Note: When you tighten the bearing case screws, do not move the crankshaft.
Measure the width that the Plastigage becomes flat with the scale to get the oil clearance.
If the oil clearance is more than the allowable limit, replace the crankshaft bearing 2.
