Assembly Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision components. All disassembly and all assembly procedures must be performed on a clean work surface and in a clean area. Keep cleaned parts covered and protected at all times.Note: O-ring seals, gaskets, and seals should always be replaced. A used O-ring may not have the same sealing properties as a new O-ring seal. A reconditioning procedure should not be degraded because of a low cost component such as an O-ring seal or a gasket. Use 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound during the assembly procedure.
Put clean oil on all of the parts of the valves.

Install ball (23), spring (20), retainer (22), and snap ring (21) in spool assembly (16).

Install stop (15), spring (19), spool assembly (16), and slug (18) in the manifold. Install the plug and seal (17) in the manifold.

Install adjustment screw (14). Make sure that you install adjustment screw (14) to the position that was marked in the disassembly procedure. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Disassemble".
Install plate (13) and bolts (12). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 30 4 N m (22.0 3.0 lb ft).

Install spring (7), spool (11), seat (8), ball (10), and cartridge (9) in modulating valve (2). Tighten cartridge (9) to a torque of 50 5 N m (37.0 4.0 lb ft).
Install nipple assembly (6) and tighten to a torque of 14 4 N m (10.0 3.0 lb ft).

Install coil assembly (5), spacer (4), and locknut (3). Tighten locknut (3) to a torque of 9.5 1.5 N m (84.0 13.0 lb in).

Install modulating valves (2) and bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 30 4 N m (22.0 3.0 lb ft). End By:
Install the transmission hydraulic control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Install".
