Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the oil filters. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter - Remove".
Remove the water pumps. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove".
Remove the front idler gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler Gears (Front) - Remove".
Remove the crankshaft front seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Front Sean and Wear Sleeve - Remove".
Remove the priority valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Priority Valve - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the oil pan to a level below the outlet elbow.
Remove the oil suction tube.
Remove the oil supply tube that is between the prelube pump and the oil distribution tee.
Loosen the oil pan bolts so that there is a 3.17 mm (0.125 inch) clearance. Be careful not to damage the oil pan gasket.
Remove the bolts that hold the oil pan to the bottom of the front housing.

Remove sleeve (1) and the connector from the front housing. Remove the two O-ring seals from the connector.
Remove sleeve (2) from the front housing.

Remove bolts (5) from the inside of the front housing.
Install a 3/4 inch forged eyebolt in the top of front housing (3).
Remove bolts (4) from the outside of the front housing.
Remove bolts (6) from the outside of the front housing. Carefully move the front housing off the dowels in the cylinder block. Remove the front housing. The front housing weighs 258 kg (569 lb).

If necessary, remove tube assembly (7) from front housing (3).

Remove gasket (9) from the front of the cylinder block.
