Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Inspect the O-ring seals and gaskets. Replace O-ring seals or gaskets that are worn or damaged.

Use Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device in order to position the torque converter and transmission (2) onto the engine. The weight of torque converter and transmission (2) is approximately 975 kg (2150 lb).Note: A torque converter and a transmission that is equipped with transfer gears weighs approximately 1405 kg (3100 lb).
Install bolts (4) .
Connect harness assembly (3) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to rotate the flywheel. Apply Tooling (D) onto bolts (1). Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 120 to 125 N m (89 to 92 lb ft).Note: There is a total of eight bolts (1) .End By: Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install" for the specified engine.
