Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the track carrier rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Carrier Roller - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove plug (1) and drain the oil from the roller.

Hold collar assembly (2) in place, and remove ring (3). Remove the collar assembly from the roller.
Remove the Duo-Cone seal kit from the collar assembly.

Remove O-ring seal (4) and Duo-Cone seal kit (5) from the roller.

Install two 6 mm forged eyebolts in support assembly (7). Remove the support assembly from the roller. Remove O-ring seal (6) from the support assembly.

Remove three bolts (9) and cover (8) from the roller.

Bend the tabs of lock (10) away from the bolt head.
Remove bolts (11), lock (10), and plate (12) .

In order to prevent damage to shaft (14), do not allow shaft (14) to fall when you remove the shaft from bearing (13) .
Use a press in order to remove shaft (14) from bearing cone (13) and the roller.
Remove bearing cone (13) from the roller.

Remove bearing cone (15) from shaft (14) by using a press.

If necessary, remove bearing cups (17) from roller (16) .
