Personal injury can result if the machine moves while testing.If the machine begins to move during test, reduce the engine speed immediately and engage the parking brake.
Check for transmission drag.
Place pressure gauges on all transmission clutches.
Run the engine.
Disengage the parking brake.
Press down the service brake pedal in order to engage the brakes.
Shift through all the transmission gears.
Check that the proper clutches are engaging for each gear.
Check that the clutches are disengaging properly for each gear. The clutch that is disengaged should not have a pressure that is more than 137 kPa (20 psi).Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Controls".Expected Results

OKAY: The engagement of the transmission clutches was eliminated as the source of the problem. Since the brake pressure was correct then the brake control valve was eliminated as the cause of the problem. Therefore, the brake module is the probable cause of the problem. Proceed to Step 5.
CLUTCH WILL NOT ENGAGE: Proceed to Step 6.
CLUTCH WILL NOT DISENGAGE: Proceed to Step 7.
Check the system pressure.
Operate the engine at low idle.
Press down the service brake pedal in order to engage the brakes.
Place the transmission in the NEUTRAL position.
Disengage the parking brake.
Check the system pressure at the pressure tap for the transmission main relief valve.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Schematic".Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps".Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts".Expected Results
The system pressure is correct.Results
OKAY: The brake pressure is not correct. The system pressure is correct. Next, the brake control valve will be inspected. Proceed to Step 9.
NOT OKAY: The cause of the problem may be the adjustment of the main relief valve. The main relief valve maintains the system pressure in the control section of the power train oil pump. Proceed to Step 8.
Check the brake modules.The brake pressure is correct and the engagement of the transmission clutches is correct. Therefore, the brake modules are the probable cause of the complaint.
Disassemble the brakes.
Check the seals, splines, discs, and plates for failure.
If necessary, replace any parts that are damaged.
Calibrate each brake module. Reference: Disassembly and Assembly, SENR9496, "D6R Track-Type Tractor"Reference: Service Manual, SENR8367, "System calibrations"Expected Results
