Lift lever (3) and turn lever (3) counterclockwise until the lever stops. Remove the fuel tank cap.
Inspect seal (2) for damage. Replace the seal, if necessary.
Remove bolts (1) that are located on the bottom of the fuel tank cap. Remove the filter.
Clean the filter. Inspect the filter. Replace the filter, if necessary.
Install the filter to the fuel tank cap.

Remove the strainer that is located in the filler opening.
Wash the strainer and the fuel tank cap in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the strainer for irregular holes or tears. Replace the strainer if the strainer is damaged.
Install the strainer.
Apply a thin film of fuel to the gasket of the fuel tank cap.
Install the fuel tank cap. Turn lever (3) clockwise. In order to lock the fuel tank cap, push down on lever (3) .
