Hydraulic (Implement) System Troubleshooting
Many of the following problems can create diagnostic codes or event codes in Cat ET. These codes can help find the root cause of the problem. Cat ET should be used to retrieve the logged codes and active codes. Implement Function Is Slow
The pump has too much wear.
The engine speed is below high idle speed.
There is a leak in the system. Visually inspect the system for leaks in the system.
The pilot oil pressure is low.
The high pressure cut-off setting on the pump is not correct.
The margin pressure setting on the pump is not correct.
The inlet screen for the pump is plugged. Drain the hydraulic tank and inspect the inlet screen for contamination.
The solenoid actuators on the implement control valve are not operating correctly.
The seals in the lift and tilt cylinders are leaking.
The control valve is not operating correctly. Inspect the components of the valve for damage or for contamination.
The load sense relief valve is not adjusted correctly.
The Dead Engine Lower valve is open. All Implement Functions Will Not Operate
Hydraulic lockout switch on the right dash is in the LOCK position. Move the switch to the UNLOCK position.
The pilot shut-off solenoid valve has failed or there is an electrical problem keeping the solenoid from energizing.
There is a joystick problem.
There is a problem with the pump. Possible problems are: broken shaft, broken drive coupler, or stuck stroking piston.
The oil level in the hydraulic tank is low. Check the hydraulic oil level. The Boom Will Not Operate In The Up Or Down Direction
If none of the other functions are operating correctly, Refer to "All Implement Functions Will Not Operate".
The lift cylinders have damage. Replace the cylinders.
The mechanical loader linkage has damage. Repair the damage.
There is a failure in one of the seals of the lift cylinder.
The main control spool is stuck. Disassemble the valve and inspect the main control spool.
There is an electrical problem. The Boom Will Lower But Not Raise.
Check the solenoid.
Take the spring cover off to examine if the spool is stuck.
If spool is stuck, swap the section. The Bucket Will Not Rack Back Or Dump
None of the other functions are operating correctly. Refer to "All Implement Functions Will Not Operate".
The cylinder has damage. Repair the damage.
The line relief valves are not operating correctly.
The seals in the cylinder are leaking.
The main control spool is stuck. Disassemble the valve. Inspect the main control spool and inspect the springs.
There is an electrical problem. The Dead Engine Lower Function Does Not Operate With A Dead Engine
The machine has an override switch in the cab for the lift lock valves.
The switch must be pressed after the valve is open. This could add a failure mode. The Implements Drift Downward
The Dead Engine Lower ball valve is open.
The cylinder seals have been damaged.
There is an external hose leak. Visually inspect the implement hydraulic system for leaks.
There is a problem with the low leak check valves in the implement control valve.Pilot Oil Pressure Is Low
The pilot oil pressure is generated from PRV in the inlet manifold.
Low pilot pressure, check
