Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clamp assemblies MUST only be used once. Discard all clamp assemblies after use.
Bellows assemblies MUST only be used once. Discard all bellows assemblies after use.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system to a level below the turbochargers into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Attach a suitable lifting device to remove the air cleaner (1). The air cleaner and brackets weigh approximately 30.8 kg (68 lb).
Disconnect coupling (2) and clamp (3) and position both out of the way.
Disconnect clamp (4).
Remove 6 bolts (5) and remove the air cleaner and brackets (1).

Disconnect plugs (6) and (9) and position harnesses out of the way.
Remove clamp (8) and position tube out of the way.
Remove clamp (7).
Attach a suitable lifting device to remove the air cleaner (10). The air cleaner weighs approximately 30.8 kg (68 lb).

Remove six bolts (12) and remove the air cleaner and brackets (11).

Remove five bolts (14) and remove shield (13).
Remove four bolts (16) and remove two shields (15).
