CAT data link is an input and an output of the implement ECM at contacts J1-3 and J1-9. The data link communicates with the following items: Caterpillar Monitoring System, power train ECM and diagnostic service tools. The data link is not a visible component. The data link consists of internal control circuits and the connecting harness wiring. The data link is bidirectional. The implement ECM can receive information. The implement ECM can send information.The implement ECM receives information via the CAT data link. The information is received from the following sources:
The power train ECM sends engine speed.
The power train ECM sends the status for the key start switch.
The Caterpillar Monitoring System sends the following information: harness code, calibration and status information.The implement ECM sends information via the CAT data link. This information is sent to the following components:
Calibration information is displayed on the Caterpillar Monitoring System.
Diagnostic codes are displayed on the Caterpillar Monitoring System.Calibration and service code information can also be displayed on the Caterpillar Electronic Technician.All the electronic control modules that use the CAT data link have a module identifier (MID). The MID for the implement ECM is the number 082.
