Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Never remove the fill/vent plug from the hydraulic tank if the oil is hot.Air can enter the system and cause pump damage.

The hydraulic oil tank is on the right side of the machine.
Park the machine on level ground.

Excavator
Position the machine with the stick in the vertical position and the bucket on the ground.

Excavator with VA boom
Retract the stick cylinder. Extend the boom cylinders. Place the bucket on the ground.

Super long demolition
Completely raise the boom and position the tool as close as possible to the machine.

Material handler
Completely raise the boom and fully retract the stick cylinder.
Position the machine in a position that is shown in Illustration 2, 4, 5, or Illustration 3.
Open the access door on the right side of the machine.

For a cold machine, maintain the hydraulic oil level in the low temperature range. For a machine that is at normal operating temperature, maintain the hydraulic oil level in the high temperature range.
Close the access door.

Slowly loosen the fill/vent plug in order to relieve any pressure. Add oil, if necessary. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" when you select an oil.
Check the O-ring seal of the fill/vent plug. Replace the O-ring seal if the O-ring seal is damaged.
Clean the fill/vent plug and install the fill/vent plug.
