Information:
Install protective strips (14) between the main rotor and the main stator. The protective strips are used in order to protect both the rotor and the stator. Refer to the two "Notice" paragraphs that are at the beginning of the "Rotor - Remove and Install" section for more information about the protective strips that must be used.

Assemble the 138-7576 Link Brackets (15) and the 3E-3881 Eyebolt (16) onto the main rotor (17) front hub.
Illustration 11 g01463732
Place the rotor removal tool (21) onto the main rotor (22). Install the rotor removal tool onto the rotor until the tool rests against the step face (23) that is on the rotor shaft. Install the suitable lifting device (24) to the rotor assembly.

Support rotor removal tool (28) with the tool stand assembly (29).
Illustration 13 g01463867
Attach one end of the ratchet hoist (31) to the eye bolt (32 ). Attach the opposite end (30) of the ratchet hoist (31) to a suitable object. Note: The ratchet hoist allows a slow controlled removal of the rotor assembly.Note: The main rotor position must remain as horizontal as possible during removal in order to avoid any damage to the generator components.
Illustration 14 g01463887
Attach a suitable lifting device (33) to the link brackets (34). The weight of the rotor assembly varies depending on the generator size. The rotor weight can be from 845 kg (1863 lb) to 1236 kg (2725 lb).
Use the ratchet hoist (40) and the rotor removal tool in order to finish the removal of the main rotor (41) from the stator (42).
Illustration 15 g014664881400, 1600, and 1800 Frame Main Rotor Installation Procedure
The information that is in the following procedure is applicable for both single bearing and double bearing generators, except for the minor difference where noted.
Place a protective strip (43) of plastic or curved sheet metal between the rotor assembly and the stator assembly. Note: The protective strip should be as long as the rotor assembly. During installation of the rotor, the protective strip will protect the rotor and the stator from damage.

On two bearing generators rotors, orient the alignment mark that is on the front bearing bracket to the mark that is on the stator.
Illustration 17 g01301247
Attach a suitable lifting device to rotor assembly. Assemble the rotor removal tooling to the rearward end of the rotor shaft.
Install the rotor into the stator as far as possible, as shown in Illustration 18. Remove the strap (44).
Illustration 18 g01301257
Use the rotor removal tool in order to guide the rotor assembly and fan assembly to the stator housing.
On two bearing generators, install the mounting bolts (48) that are used in order to secure the front bearing bracket (49) to the stator (50). Torque the mounting bolts (48).

Install the end bracket if it was removed.
Install the end bracket if it was removed.
Remove the protective strips (51).
Illustration 20 g01632303
Remove the tooling that was used in order to install the rotor.
Install the exciter bearing retainer bar (4). Torque the bolts. Refer to Illustration 3.
Refer to the "1400 Frame
