The new Special Instruction provides the needed parts and the procedure to update the brake system. A new diverter valve with a new orifice limits pressure spikes during operation. The diameter of the supply hose was increased to allow a larger flow to the gear pump for the brake system. The location of the makeup oil line was moved from before the oil cooler to after the oil cooler. The new location will lower the temperature of the oil going into the makeup oil tank. A new gear pump is used that provides improved low speed pumping efficiency. A new brake filter is used that contains metal end caps allow better cold oil flow. For a complete list of material and the correct procedure that is needed in order to update the brake control system to the current configuration, refer to Special Instruction, REHS7984, "Procedure to Update the Brake Control System on Certain 793F Off-Highway Trucks". The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar service information system (SIS) and through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat dealer.
