Flash the Software onto the Electronic Control Module (ECM)
The ECM is shipped without the application software installed. Use the following procedure in order to flash the application software into the display.Required Material

RC Indicator Drive Module 375-2389-00 Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the ECM. The ECM is flashed in order to upgrade the software. Flash programming of the ECM must be done if the ECM has been replaced.Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) contains the program Win Flash. Win Flash is used in order to load the software into the ECM. The following procedure is used in order to flash the software into the ECM.Procedure
Ensure that the key start switch and the disconnect switch are in the OFF position.
Connect the 7X-1425 Data Link Cable As between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter Gp and Cat ET.
Connect the 139-4166 Data Link Cable As between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter Gp and the diagnostic connector of the machine.
Use Win Flash in order to load the software.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Verify that the ECM is functioning.
