Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: The pressure must be removed from the hydraulic oil system before the filter can be serviced. Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release".Replace the case drain filters when a failure occurs within the hydraulic system.

Three case drain filters are located under the access doors in the cab platform.

(1) Case Drain Filter (Steering)
(2) Case Drain Filter (Implement)
(3) Case Drain Filter (Fan)
Stop the engine.
Use a strap type wrench to remove the filter. Dispose of the used filter properly.
Clean the filter mounting base. Make sure that all of the used gasket is removed from the filter mounting base.
Lubricate the gasket of the new filter with clean hydraulic oil.
Install the new filter by hand. When the gasket contacts the filter base, tighten the filter by an additional 3/4 turn.
Repeat the above steps for the remaining case drain filters. There are a total of three case drain filters.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Operate the steering, the brakes, and the implements.
Stop the engine. Inspect the filters for leaks. Make any necessary repairs. Close all access doors.
