Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Position the machine on level ground.
Stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Disconnect case drain hose (3) from adapter (2) . Install 6V-9509 Face Seal Plug and 6V-8398 O-Ring Seal in the open end of case drain hose (3) .
Connect one end of the remote drain hose to adapter (2) . Place the other end of remote drain hose into the container in order to measure the case drain oil.
Start the engine.
Set a fixed fan speed according to Testing and Adjusting, "Fan Motor Speed (Hydraulic and Radiator Cooling) - Test and Adjust".
Measure the amount of case drain oil for 1 minute.Maximum amount of case drain oil ... 6.5 L/min (1.7 US gpm)
